Listening to Art, by William Denton.

Volume nine, number six: Obliteration Room by Yayoi Kusama.

Hello, and welcome to Listening to Art. I’m William Denton.

This is the fifth work we have heard by Yayoi Kusama, a Japanese artist born in 1929. They were all recorded at the same show, but this one is very different from the others: instead of being an Infinity Mirrored Room where visitors are in a small room with the door closed and are not allowed to touch anything, this is a large area with many people passing through at the same time, and visitors can sit on the furniture and are encouraged to touch things.

This is an installation, made of furniture, white paint and dot stickers, in two rooms of unknown dimensions.
