Volume seven, number four: Crisscross Flats by Anthony Caro.

Hello, and welcome to Listening to Art. I’m William Denton.

English sculptor Anthony Caro made this work in the 1973–1974 academic year when he was artist-in-residence at York University in Toronto. In 1976 he donated Crisscross Flats to York, “in recognition of the facilities provided by the Faculty of Fine Arts.”

This is a sculpture, made of welded steel, oxidized and varnished, fitting in a volume 125 cm wide, 303 cm high and 410 cm deep.

Now let’s listen to Crisscross Flats by Anthony Caro, recorded at York University, in Toronto, on 21 July 2020.

Waveform of the field recording.

That was Crisscross Flats by Anthony Caro. I hope you enjoyed listening to it as much as I did.
