Hello, and welcome to Listening to Art. I’m William Denton.
English sculptor Anthony Caro made this work in the 1973–1974 academic year when he was artist-in-residence at York University in Toronto. In 1976 he donated Crisscross Flats to York, “in recognition of the facilities provided by the Faculty of Fine Arts.”
This is a sculpture, made of welded steel, oxidized and varnished, fitting in a volume 125 cm wide, 303 cm high and 410 cm deep.
