Listening to Art, by William Denton.

Volume one, number twelve: Only God Knows I’m Good by Tracy Emin.

Hello, and welcome to Listening to Art. I’m William Denton.

This recording was made at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York. The Albright-Knox is one of those grand old buildings with an enormous stone staircase that goes up one or two flights to the main doors, which take you into a vast high-ceilinged room, except that this entrance is now permanently closed and the real one is around the side, which is at ground level so it’s accessible, but unfortunately looks like it’s for staff.

There is one work hanging in that vast high-ceilinged room at the Albright-Knox, and it is Only God Knows I’m Good, by British artist Tracy Emin. Emin was born in 1963 and was elected a Royal Academician, a member of the Royal Academy of Arts, in 2007.

This is a snow white neon sign, 346.7 cm wide by 63.5 cm high.

Now let’s listen to Only God Knows I’m Good by Tracy Emin, recorded at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, in Buffalo, New York, on 16 July 2017.

Waveform of the field recording.

That was Only God Knows I’m Good by Tracy Emin. I hope you enjoyed listening to it as much as I did.
